There are many conflicting reports on the results for diabetics of eating porridge made from oats. Traditional Scottish porridge was made with salt, however there are many variables, with or without sugar, milk, salt etc, or any combination(s) of these. Whilst many diabetics state that eating oats gives them a spike immediately afterwards, others claim that it is their usual breakfast food and they have no spike. The fibre content in porridge helps slow the absorption of sugar, which may improve blood-glucose levels for some people who suffer from diabetes. You state that you are already eating it, and if this gives you no problem you should, if you so wish, continue until you decide to change to another choice.

  2. Ben Trolled - Oats are a slow release carbohydrate and perfect for a low G.I. diet. Research also shows they are also useful for lowering cholesterol.

It has a Glycemic load between 9 and 11..
A great breakfast is : Bacon and Eggs, no toast. Sliced tomato's and a Virgin Mary with celery stick...
    Take care
