Why Am I Allergic To Fresh Pineapple?

396545383 I can eat canned and processed pineapple but when it comes to fresh pineapple, my throat swells.

Is it common to be allergic to fresh fruit but not processed fruit?

  1. lilfirebolt - You can be allergic to anything, fresh or not. When you have an allergic reaction, your immune system finds the item you had just consumed foreign and overreacts and attacks that food.

  2. SH - There are many different allergies, my grandson is allergic to peanuts, and I’m allergic to mold. And a funny one my daughter is allergic to... marijuana. She works with animals and she can tell if the dog has come from a home where they smoke marijuana, she breaks out, and she can't breathe well and has to take an antihistamine. Her boss sort of thinks it's funny and she should get a job at an airport catching marijuana smugglers.

I don't know if it's common to be allergic to fresh and not canned. But if you have had an allergic reaction to a food, I would leave the canned alone too, you don't know what damage is going on in the inside of you. That is what a doctor told me about eggs that I am allergic too.
