Problem Finishing Meals!?!?

396545384 I'm 17, and for the past view months I've had trouble finishing my meals, even a bowl of cereal is hard for me to finish. I feel really hungry, but as soon as I start eating I get nauseas, and have to go to the bath room ( bowl movement), due to this I've lost quite some weight. If anyone ever experienced this please comment.

  1. John W - It would be unusual for someone of your age but if a diabetic has been allowing his glucose levels to be high enough that his A1C is over 7% then they could develop diabetic gastroparesis. That would be when the vagal nerve deteriorates and the entire digestive system goes out of whack, quick satiety is one of the symptoms. However it takes years, perhaps decades for that to happen.

What would be more likely is that the vagal nerve, particularly in teens and young adults reacts to fear, anxiety and stress; it's called the vasocagal response and as the vagal nerve controls your entire digestive tract, it could easily give you early satiety as well as bowel movements. Basically it could be anxiety.

Note that the stresses involved are really cumulative, not necessarily stresses you are aware of, the best way to reduce this hidden stress is exercise as the body sees that as fighting or fleeing and stress is part of the fight or flight response.
