can 15 year olds get a heart attack? I'm 6ft tall, weigh 184, I play soccer and basketball and I also do martial arts. I've had a slight pain in my left side of my chest. Is this just simple soreness or could something wrong with my heart? I also had a bad pain in my left arm 2 days ago and all the pain was mostly towards the center or my arm. Please help. ReplyDeleteIf you've been having pain like that for two days and you're fine, it's not a heart attack. I get this all the time, and it's my anxiety. There are other causes besides that though. You would not be here asking this if it was a heart attack. Go tell your parents though so you can see your doctor and find out what is really wrong.
Rockford - I'm not an expert, but it's probably "Precordial Catch" syndrome. I wish someone would have told me about it at your age. Having said that, ask your doctor for an "exercise stress test" that measures your heart as you run on a treadmill.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a well-known cause of sudden death in athletes. Almost half of deaths in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy happen during or just after the patient has done some type of physical activity.
HCM can run in families, but the condition may also be acquired as a part of aging or high blood pressure. In other instances, the cause is unknown.
