How Should One Try To Avoid Cancer Or Any Other Type Of Disease That Can Cause Death?

396545116 Also there are people who worry about everything in their life and can get paranoid over silly things.. could that be a negative aspect on your health?

  1. Alan S - -Don't smoke.
-Don't let yourself get too overweight.
-Exercise at least 3 times per week.
    -Limit alcohol consumption.
-Avoid drugs (except possibly marijuana in a limited amount).
-Focus on eating more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, less processed foods, and some poultry and fish (but you have to know which fish are safe to eat and better for you). Try to avoid or limit consumption of more processed foods, sugar, salt, processed non-whole grains like white bread, dairy, and red meat.
-Go to the doctor regularly for checkups so that any problems can be detected and treated, and also if you have any specific health concerns. Get recommended screenings for the various cancers, use the guidelines that start at the earliest age possible, and don't listen to advice not to get screened for things like prostate cancer because you are too old - the age restrictions are more to cut costs to the system and not to help individuals, Cancer is more likely to be cured if detected early.
-If you have symptoms of a heart attack or stroke, call 911 or have someone take you to the emergency room immediately.
-Don't do stupid things that can get you killed accidentally, always be careful.
-Genetics are important, and as of right now, you can't do anything about it (but that might change in the future).

Try to stay alive as long as possible, because the longer you live, the more likely you will be able to take advantage of medical advances that have not yet been discovered that can help you live even longer. While there are a lot of things that they haven't made much progress on, there are a lot of things where they have made great progress. Scientists are studying some of our oldest people (over 100 and over 110) to find the genetic secrets that allowed them to live so long, and the hope is that this information can be used to help prevent the diseases that are typically part of the aging process and that kill people off before reaching their maximum lifespan (somewhere around 110-125, the record is 122). Other studies are being done on animals, usually mice or rats, to alter genes to extend their lifespan far beyond the normal lifespan. Ideally, scientists will be able to eliminate or reduce the likelihood of diseases that typically kill people from the mid 50's on, like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and strokes, so the average person will live to about 110 instead of 80. Then, by altering DNA, they'll be able to tinker with the mechanisms that cause our body to age and will eventually be able to slow down, stop, and hopefully reverse the aging process. So the hope is we could theoretically live indefinitely as long as we weren't killed in an accident. But you have to use the conventional methods to prolong your life to make it more likely that you'll live long enough to take advantage of this.

I would suggest trying to save up a lot of money. There are 7 billion people on this planet, and if all of them were going to live for several hundred years or more and possibly be able to reproduce during most of their lives, we would have insurmountable overpopulation problems and mass starvation. So the really good technology is probably going to be rationed, at least at first until we can figure out how to use it without creating severe overpopulation (worse than it would ordinarily be). So to make sure you can take advantage of these advances, you should have the money to pay for it.
