Hello,So, long story short I have to strain my urine for a Kidney Stone. I don't have a strainer, I was never sent home with a strainer, and the medical supply store that carries them is closed until Monday. Is there anything I can use to strain my urine? I've been going into a cup, but if I catch the stone, then what?

ckm1956 - If you catch it, toss the pee and keep the stone. It'll be sent for analysis.
ReplyDeleteRichard - First of all, you could use a common kitchen strainer.
ReplyDeleteYou need to save the kidney stone so the doctor's laboratory can analyze it to make sure that it is a routine calcium kidney stone. It it is not calcium, it may be a sign of a serious condition.
Zoro Roronoa - What matters the most is to see the stone going out so that to be sure that it's gone. If it is you fist episode of lithiasis I don't think that they need the stone for analysis. If you have been told so though, just put the stone in a little bag or a cup and go to the lab. it doesn't have to be sterilized
