lets say someone hasn't done anything to raise their heart rate above 100 bpm in years and all of sudden they go for a run will anything happen other then exhaustion/fatigue
Karen - I don't know if the heart just gives out in a situation like that, but it certainly isn't good for the heart. Any time you want to start a new exercise regimen, you should check with your doctor...especially if you've been sedentary for an extended period of time. Running when you're not used to it is also not good for your knees, ankles and hips. It's always best to start slowly and work your way up to the high-impact stuff.
Richard Jensen - They might die if you start the running without exercising.
