TheRavenAZ - A dermatologist - not a dermatological pathologist - does the initial biopsy. After the biopsy is done it will be sent to a dermatological pathologist. You wouldn't go to the oncologist until you learned that a mole was malignant. If you're embarrassed to go to the dermatologist for this and you're a girl, your gynecologist may be able to do the biopsy; For a guy, a urologist. But call to ask, before making an appointment, if they are qualified and able to do a biopsy.

ReplyDeleteTarkarri - Most Dr's can access if the mole is safe or needs further investigation.
ReplyDeleteSee your regular Dr first and they will refer you to a specialist if that is required.
