I been sick since Sunday or Monday. I woke up with a dry throat & stuffy nose so I took Advil and Loratadine. 2 days later, I went to the doctors and they gave me Azithromycin Tablets(5 days pill). I took those pills and got diarrhea then the next day which is today, I just ate eggo waffles and eggs in the morning and then I went to the bathroom and poop and I looked in the toilet and my poop had red spots and the other one looks like weed. I haven't took any pills yet.
1. Why is my poop like that?
2. Will I be ok?
3. What should I do?
4. Please
help me!! ): Serious comments only!! no joking please!! I'm really worried :'(
Griffon Butler - Well, I think your going to die.
ReplyDeleteYou have a serious case of OVER REACTING.
MzMick - 1. It's normal to develop diarrhea after taking antibiotics. The antibiotic kills all the good flora in your stomach. Eat yogurt made of live cultures to restore your digestive balance.
ReplyDelete2. Yes, you will be okay.
3, Whatever is eliminated in your feces will be something you ate a day or two ago, not the eggs and waffles you ate this morning.
As long as you are not developing any more symptoms other than the dry throat and stuffy nose, you are fine. Drink lots of fluids to replace what your body is losing.

Annie - Diarrhea is a common side effect of taking an antibiotic like Azithromycin. If your feces run through your intestines at the speed of a train, then what you eat won't be digested or absorbed as well as it should be - which is why you're probably seeing whole pieces of food (maybe salad or some sort of vegetable?) in your stool. The red spots could be a small bleeder in your large intestine - if it happens again, you should see your doctor, as Azithromycin may not be the right antibiotic for you.
ReplyDeleteDiarrhea is often due to the fact that the antibiotic kills off the bad bacteria and the good bacteria. Taking a probiotic like lactobacillus can help get your digestive system back to normal - don't, however, take the antibiotic at the same time you take the probiotic, as the the probiotic will be killed off; therefore take the probiotic about halfway between antibiotic doses. Also, if you get the probiotic in bottles with capsules inside, keep the bottle refrigerated after opening in order to keep the probiotic from dying off while at room temperature.
Hope you feel better soon.
Get In Line - Dirrahea is a common side effect of Azithromycin...but the fact that there are "red spots" in your feces tells me that you may also have a gastrointestinal bleed going on...most likely caused by the Advil which is an NSAID (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) and is VERY hard on the stomach...particularly an empty one. I suggest you get to a doctor...it isn't life threatening, but it's certainly something that needs to be treated. Blood in the stool is ALWAYS something that needs prompt attention.
