Question - Iv Sedation / Dentist Pain?

396545381 Will I get pain relievers to get 2 abscessed teeth cut out? I will be getting IV Sedation that day and got pain relievers the day I got checked out by dentist because of the pain. Will I get pain relievers after the surgery?

  1. WATCHER - You should get a prescription. And word to the wise. DO NOT wait until the pain returns to take them because it takes a little while for it to kick in. Be preventative.

  2. Em - They will typically prescribe pain relievers for after when IV sedation is used. If not take 2-3 Ibu every 6 hours for the days following.

  3. arnie g - Just a heads up,you may not want them to give you a drug called Versed

In fact, many people who use Versed for "conscious sedation" during a procedure are awake for the entire procedure but remember nothing, often believing they were "out" the whole time.

Versed (Midazolam) is an amnestic. It is commonly administered in combination with anesthesia before and during surgery. It is also commonly used for minor procedures like colonoscopies dental procedures like extractions, conscience sedation, twilight sleep, so that patients won't remember pain and discomfort.HOWEVER THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THOSE SENSATIONS WILL NOT BE EXPERIENCED!!!!Forgetting does no mean it did not happen!!
