Okay, so a permanent tooth is in front of my baby tooth, but it's not completely over it. I'm guessing the dentist would remove the baby tooth, so the permanent could grow in, but the permanent teeth grew in a long time ago, like about a year ago. Would the permanent tooth still move down after removing the baby tooth? Thank you.
Liza Koehler - Usually baby teeth fall and then are replaced with permanent teeth. If baby teeth don't fall and permanent teeth erupts, then it is known as retained baby teeth and extraction of baby teeth is done in such cases. After baby tooth removal, adult tooth will move to its normal position. In most of the cases, adult tooth will move to its normal position but if it doesn't then braces treatment may also be required for it.
