so I'm Going to the dentist on the 6th, in a week or so.. and I might have to get a root canal. because the x rays show it might be touching the nerve. problem is Ive researched about laughing gas and I can't breathe through my nose well . I sleep with my mouth open, so apparently it would be trouble usin laughig gas through the process if I can't breathe well thru my nose.. so I was wondering if there's any other method of anesthesia i can ask for at the dentist for this root canal or possibly tooth pulled out where I'd be able to breathe through my mouth because I'm scared , &it's my first time..
J.B.Schneider - My sister went to a dentist in Ohio who gave her a pill that made "nothing matter" and she had no pain.
ReplyDeletePangolin - You really don't need more than the numbing shots for a root canal.
ReplyDeleteI've had several root canals done. Find an endodontist that does nothing but root canals, and it will be done much more quickly. Mine didn't hurt a bit during or after (hurt like hell before the procedure, though - the root canal fixes the problem and takes away the pain)
If you want real anesthesia, you'll want an anesthesiologist to go with that. Dentists have little training in anesthesia, and even less in resuscitation if something should go wrong.
