Melinda Sue Fritz - smoking
ReplyDeletecarcinegens
Caelan - Consuming bad substances like Melted plastic, skin-cancer can be obtained by sitting in the sun a lot or for to long.
ReplyDeleteVictor B - It's complicated.
ReplyDeleteStart with this.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cancer
It's wikipedia, so it's not a scientific text, but it should serve you nicely to learn about it.
Basically, it's due to genetics in a small part and environmental factors in a large part.
Norms - out of control cells...genetics and your lifestyle ex: more smoking could lead to lung cancer and if your mom had breast cancer then you should get checked every year for a mama-gram
ReplyDeletemoviebuff - smoking can be a contributing cause of lung cancer. Obese people seem to have a higher rate of breast cancer. environmental cause can sometimes cause cancer as black lung disease. But for all intents and purposes we really don't know. If anyone knew they would become a very rich person
ReplyDelete¤ý·¶顺 - There is a series of controls that each body has that prevents uncontrolled cell growth (that is, cancer). When at least one of these controls malfunctions, that is when cancer kicks in.
ReplyDeleteOf course, the above is simplifying the actual mechanism of cancer growth.
There are many factors that can lead to the development of cancer from genetic disposition to environment factor (eg. constant exposure to radiation). The underlying cause of cancer is when any of these factors causes the control to malfunction.
Mr Pickle - Well cancer is caused when very few cells in your body begin to mutate, which means their DNA has changed, but then spreads say to an organ or form a clump of mutated cells called a tumour. Most cancers, are due to a mixture of all kinds of factors which we can't really help, i.e. smoking, drinking or anything in our surroundings(air pollution), or some people inherit cancers.
ReplyDeleteBrianna Curtis - The fact is, nobody knows what causes cancer. It just happens. Some risks of cancer are avoidable and some are not.
ReplyDeleteSmoking can definitely cause lung cancer. Too much sun can cause skin cancer. A diet high in red and processed meat can cause colorectal cancers. Some women get breast cancer.
They haven't found the cure for cancer yet, and they have been trying to for over 50 years. But, there are these pills that can take away the cancer for a few days, and when the cancer comes back, you take them again. But, the cancer doesn't go away forever.
I read somewhere that escate might be the cure. Because, it kills the cancer cells. I also read somewhere that cherries can make cancer cells commit suicide.
Hopefully, they will find the cure and if not, hopefully they will find out what causes it.
Steve - If we knew all the causes of cancer there wouldnt be any. Life causes cancer.
ReplyDeletegangadharan nair - There are many causes of cancers, including:--
ReplyDelete* Benzene and other chemicals
* Drinking excess alcohol
* Environmental toxins, such as certain poisonous mushrooms and a type of poison that can grow on peanut plants (aflatoxins)
* Excessive sunlight exposure (for eg: melanoma)
* Genetic problems
* Obesity
* Radiation
* Viruses (for eg: Human papilloma virus cause cervical cancer in women.)
thinkingtime - Bad luck.
