Do I Have An Allergy To The Smell Stuff In Bodywash?

396545383 first let me say that i havent ever had an issues with allergies until i became 20... Im 25 now and a single ant bite makes the area swell up now days, but my question is, before i take a shower im fine, after i take a shower my body itches all over the place like tiny bugs biting me, i thought it was dry skin so i used lotion and it didnt help, ive changed from gillet body wash, to axe and now some other stuff to try and make it stop, they were all scented and every shower makes me itch, could i have developed an allergy to it?

  1. Missty - You can have an allergy to a lot of different things when it comes to soap and bodywash. You would need an allergist to give you a series of tests to know for sure.

I know I had to stop with the perfumed and scented stuff myself. Which I was really angry about. Because I seemed to have suddenly developed an allergic reaction to a ton of different things. Don't know why. Including ants, mosquitos, etc. Shampoos and bodywashes have parabens in them. Which may be the base thing you are allergic to. I was give a ton of samples of soaps, washes and shampoos without parabens, and didn't break out. Whoo-hoo!

But before that I was given one of my favorite colognes for a gift as a set with the wash and everything. I was itching before I got out of the shower. Especially since I used it all over. Ugh. It took 3 months for that rash to go away completely. Talk about itching.

So it's not neccessarily the scent that makes you react. Try to find a bodywash without parabens in it. There are plenty that are not scented, but still smell nice, because of their natural ingredients.

Don't despair. I'm sure you'll smell good, be clean and won't itch fairly soon. :)

  2. Angel - Body wash is poison plain and simple. It is the chemical additives to make them smell that does it. These also cause cancer. Use only unscented soap, laundry detergents, and above all never use any type of room deodorizers, they cause severe allergies and even cancer.
