Can Gas Or Gas Bubbles Cause Heart Palpitations?

396545385 My husband has heart palpitations but he sometimes has more than he should and he was wondering if having gas or gas bubbles would cause him to have them more often since the gas moves in the chest. He says his chest will hurt and sometimes feels like shoulder pain and he says that sometimes it even feels like pain in the chest but he will notice that his heart is skipping more when he has gas or bubbles in his stomach and chest. I told him to see the doc but he doesn't want to mostly because i think he is scared that something could be wrong.

  1. aziz - it can happen, but i think more than what you said ia there, a cardiology consultation is inevitable, take him to the doctor asap.

  2. John W - The entire digestive tract is controlled by the Vagal nerve. The Vasovagal response can easily cause heart palpitations so yes, gas in the digestive system could give you palpitations.
