Allergic Reaction To Metoprolol? Celexa?

396545383 I have been taking 25mg Metoptolol for blood pressure for a month and a half now, and started 10mg Celexa for anxiety just a month ago. All has been going well, Im feeling good so far with the celexa and my bp is good. Well over the last 5 days I have had hives, very uncomfy hives. I woke up thursday morning with them very lightly, friday they were covering my legs. By saturday I was covered from top to bottom and my lips were swollen, I looked like a bratz doll. So i went to the ER where they treated me with steroid and benedryl. The only thing I have done different this week was to put up my christmas tree on last Monday. I did spray the tree lightly with raid because of spiders in my basement but I didnt have any reactions until Thursday. I havent had any new foods. So Im just stumped trying to figure out what could be breaking me out. I had strawberry shortcake for my daughters birthday wednesday night (I've never had any reactions to strawberries) and a few bite size snickers monday and tuesday(never reacted to snickers) After the ER the hives did start to go away, I woke up sunday and my lips were still swollen so I put on a face mask and took my tree down and put it back into the basement and thorougly cleaned my apartment (which is pretty clean to begin with). I did not take the celexa on saturday or sunday. It's now monday and my hives are gone with the exception of a few on my shoulder that i woke up with this morning, so im wondering if It's NOT the celexa but the metoprolol.

I take allegra 180 mg daily for seaonal allergies and prolosec for reflux and have been for a couple years now. Just an FYI. I know that when it comes to hives sometimes, there are no answers, but i am trying to figure something out here. Any advice of what you think could be causing the hives would be appreciated. Thanks!

  1. xbrianna00x - Why are you not suspecting your tree?

It would be odd to have a delayed reaction to a medication like that. It does happen, but not usually in the kind you are taking.
