Why Does My Heart Beat Fast For No Reason?

396545385 I'll be laying down or sitting and my heart will just beat super fast and oat of the time I'll feel it like beating in my neck/throat. I don't know how to explain it, but I think it's an irregular heart beat or something. But what exactly is a irregular heart beat? I'm not over weight, 16 yrs old, don't smoke or drink.
* a lot

  1. I - I think that happens to most people. My doc told me it was no problem.

  2. Lynn Le - This has happen to many people as far as I know because I looked up this question for you. I received many results but I tried to choose the BEST TOP TWO!

    This one is someone else who asked a similar question to this : http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080425212331AA4k9vM

    This one is about someone who has actually went to the doctor and got some uncovered results:

  3. Sobriquet87 - I'd tell your parents, so they can take you to the doctor. Just to be safe.
    Normal resting heart rate is 60 - 100 beats per minute.

    You can check this yourself when you're sitting down. Just find your pulse at your wrist and count for a full minute or get someone else to do it for you. Count for a full minute...if the number is over 100 and you haven't been exercising, then I would definitely contact your doctor.

  4. Will - Could be a palpitation causing that to happen...

  5. Klaryce - Ι think it is better seeing a doctor in person to answer this kind of questions.
