In Coronary Artery Disease, What Happens To The Artery That You Removed From Your Leg To Use It For You Heart?

396545385 The surgery involves taking a healthy blood vessel, from your arm or leg, that artery is then connected to the other arteries to bypass the clotted area. But then aren't you missing an artery in your leg/arm? Does it not matter or what?

  1. fusepark - There is a great deal of redundant vasculature in the average limb, so removing one vessel to use on the heart usually causes no problem.
