Ran Out Of Minocycline, But Have Tetracycline, Should I Take The Tetracycline?
I ran out of my minocycline, would it be okay to start taking tetracyline instead? I had 100 mg of minocycline a day, and i'd be taking 1000 mg of tetracycline. Is this okay?
Richard - If you are taking it for acne then yes take 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening of the tetracycline,but it is a different drug so could cause different side effect or be less affective, there will be a few days approximately five days after you swap that you might get a couple of spots appear just as the drugs cross over but this should dissipate if the tetracycline is going to work for you.
If you are taking the minocycline for some other infection you will need to speak to your prescribing doctor as unless you know what bacteria you are treating for you will not know if the tetracycline will be affective against it.
