My mom has developed some issues related to foot recently, undergoing some treatment. I really wanted to know do these sandals really work?
Is there any other alternative? she walks barefoot in the house, Is that ok for a diabetic?
Nana Lamb - The main reason we are not to wear sandals is that in the old days, before modern meds and glucometers, we could hurt our feet and not know it. Also why we are not to go barefoot!!
ReplyDeleteNow in the modern age of electronics we have these handy dandy little glucometers that tell us our exact glucose reading instantly in real time. We can use these and this information to keep our glucose more level and closer to normal values so we have less problems than our mothers did.
Get her a pair of good fitting sandals that do not rub anywhere on her foot. I love my flipflops and slides!! I go barefoot in the house!! Yes, I have stepped on grass burrs the dogs brought in, but that is rare and I would probably get them in my shoes anyway!
buffalo - I wear flip flops 7 days a week. The only reason not to wear them is if you do not heal properly. I am numb in both feet. Sure I stub a toe now and then. But I heal fine , so no problem.
ReplyDeleteShe knows what is comfortable , so take her shopping. Diabetic shoes are over priced and may not be any better than ones off the shelf.
Take care

suszcza - Let her do her own thing, sandals she isn't used to wearing can cause more foot damage than just going barefoot.
ReplyDeletePauly - You are best off talking with her doctor about this.
