  1. dream*angel - Hey I'm a dental assistant and you shouldnt cancel your appointment because cleaning help with the overall health if your teeth even if they are not perfect they shouldn't judge you , just make sure you are brushing 3 times a day in circular motion for atleay 2 minutes, and for now floss 1-2 a day u don't wanna irritate the gums ether

  2. Sandy - Hi Dave -

Don't cancel - you can make a lot of improvement in 6 days.

Think 5 times a day might be overdoing it. But this is how it's done:

You get a length of loss, about a yard long, and wrap it around your 2 middle fingers. Keep an bit of it (about 3 inches) free & hold that part tight between your orefinger & thumb. Now start to floss by wrapping it in a "C" shape around the side of a tooth & move it up and down, including GENTLY beneath the gumline - that's where most of the plaque is.

Continue along in this manner until you've done every tooth side. Once you get to the back, it'll be hard to curve it, but that's ok - just do the best you can. As long as you're getting every tooth from both sides, you're ok.

I know flossing can be a major pain for somw people, but once you get used to how it feels, you can do it while you're watching TV in the evening - you won't need a mirror.

I am enclosing a link below that shows this flossing technique more clearly than I can explain. Check it out, I think it's very useful.

***Good luck - hope this helped!
