Should I Still Be Bleeding Post Wisdom Tooth Extraction?

396545381 i had all 4 (impacted) wisdom teeth pulled on thursday 15th 2011 at 8:30 am, no complications during the procedure. now its mon 19th 2011, i have been eating soft foods(pudding, ice cream, apple sauce, soggy cereal, oatmeal, noodle soups), drinking water, taking my medications when im supposed to & rinsing my mouth after every meal. even iced my face for the 1st 72 hrs then used a moist warm towel after that for the swelling... but i am still bleeding, not alot but enough to notice. been biting on gauze & changing them every 30 min. i can hardly open my mouth & i dont have my followup for a few more days, should i be worried?
i smoked a few drags hours after surgery b4 i knew about dry socket(smoking was not on my 'not to do list' & i was not told by anyone, found out on the internet) & had half a cig 2day w/ wet gauze covering wounds, slow sucking & breathing out of my nose. (no smart*** answers plz, just honest advice)

  1. Anna - smoking was a bad idea and could be the cause of the bleeding. even a little bit of sucking can cause issues but i really wouldn't worry about it unless the bleeding becomes worse. just make sure you tell your doctor everything

  2. Liza Koehler - It should not be bleeding after 4 days after wisdom tooth extraction. You should visit your dentist for evaluation. By that time, you can keep a gauze pack over the site.
