What Is The Cause Of Low Blood Pressure?

396545384 My husband, who had perfectly normal blood pressure, enjoys lying in bed till late, then having a siesta lasting anything up to four hours in the afternoon. At a recent checkup it was noted that his blood pressure was down to 100. Could the cause be lack of exercise? Even when he is "out of bed" he leads a very sedentary life. He is diabetic type 2, weight is 70kg for 1m73 and age 60. Takes his medicine and follows his diet. He has had this rhythm for several years now.

Thank you for any advice.
What can be done about it? Should he try to exercise more to get that blood pumping round his system, or should he just rest?

  2. Nana Lamb - You oopsed!!! you need 2 numbers for blood pressure!! 100 over what?? The cardios seem to think diabetics should be less than 120 over 65!! So now I am on blood pressure medications because mine is normally 125/75 and the doctors keep trying to give me more and more blood pressure medications even when it is down to 100/50 when I go into the office!! My question is how low do they actually want it to be!!!!!
