My Doctor Called Me On My Cell Phone, Asking For Me To Call Her Back About Some Blood Work Results?

396545384 Is this bad? I mean she called me my cell phone.... And diabetes doesn't run in my family.

I called her back, left a message, and nothing.

She hasn't called me back and I called her on Wednesday at around 12.

What do you think? The blood test was a CBC and my sugar levels.

  2. Kai - She probably just wanted to let you know what your test scores were and since she hasn't called you back, there probably isn't anything urgent she needs to tell you, probably just that everything looks normal. You should give her another ring tomorrow just in case she's forgotten (they do get busy), try to call early in the day so she can try to return your call during her lunch break (that's what my doctor does anyway).

  3. Diabetes - Why not try to call her back again? After all, diabetes is not a simple disease. you will get an anwer from her reply then you can know what to do next.

  4. John W - That's common, they do that whenever they get the test results.

In the States, it was usually the nurse that calls back and tries to explain the test results. In other countries, the nurse will ask to schedule an appointment to discuss the test results.

Some send you your lab work, some require you schedule another appointment to get your results, some post it into an online account accessible from your home, some require patients to pick up the lab work in person, and others make a phone call. This is standard procedure even if nothing is wrong.

My clinic doesn't call me unless something is wrong and I have to go pick up a copy myself and show ID. Yours probably just makes a phone call. No need to panic quite yet.
