I Eat 800-600 Calories A Day. Is That Okay?

396545382 I really want to loose weight. It's to the point where I think about it all day... Saturday was the first time I didn't ear anything all day except water. I didn't feel hunger and I felt great. I normally don't have to eat very much but lately I have been eating less and just get hungry a little before my regular time to eat. I've been keeping a food journal and all this week I've been eating about 800-600 calories a day. I normally run in place for about 15-20 mins every other day but I've been increasing it more and more. So please tell me what is up with my feelings and is this healthy? I'm 12, 4"11, and weight normally 95 pounds but last night I was 90.

  2. Elisa XOXO - You know you can still lose weight being sedentary on 1200/day?
Why not eat 1200 and excersise 30 min a day? You'd be perfect...however you're fine now.

  3. Erica - If you continue eating like that for awhile, you could end up with several health issues and maybe death. 600-800 calories a day is nowhere near enough. To maintain your weight, you need 1,500. To lose weight, you need 1,000 MINIMUM. You will kill yourself if you keep eating so little.

  5. April - This is NOT healthy. Restricting calories at your age is very dangerous, because you may disturb your body's developmental process and stunt your growth. Throw away the food journal, and step away from the scale please. The scale is a huge confidence destroyer for a majority of girls, and you're way too young to even care about this. Live life, and be healthy. Trust me, eventually you're going to regret spending so much time just focusing on calories instead of enjoying life if you don't put a stop to it now.

  6. Apathy - First you need more calories in your diet, 1600 is the minimum. Also you're young, doing something like this is dangerous and will cause you to miss puberty and once that chance is gone, it's gone. You also should understand that weight =/= fat. Just because you weighed 95 to 90, doesn't mean you loss 5 lbs of fat, in fact it's just water and if you keep it up, you'll be gaining fat. Just don't skip meals, drink water, and be active in gym class and your body will even out.
