Can A Badly Infected Tooth Cause My Immune System To Be Prone To All Sorts Of Viruses And Foreign Invaders?
About 3 years ago i had a route canal in my front tooth which was very sensitive so i finally went to the dentist early this year when they told me i had an infection under it causing the pain. Unfortunately i cannot afford to go back to the dentist yet but i have been getting quiet sick lately with viruses, colds and bad sinus pain. Could the bad tooth be contributinging factor?
Madrid - yes a badly infected tooth can cause your immune system to be prone to all sorts of viruses as the infected tooth have cavity, plaque or gingivitis.Bacteria grows more on infected tooth and that bacteria in gum disease may contribute to heart disease as well as other conditions.
Jeannie - Most emphatically yes. You need to either get the root canal retreated or have the tooth extracted as soon as possible. The infection leaves a huge hole in the bone that takes months to heal, but it can't even begin healing until the tooth has been attended to. A dentist told me of a patient of his who was sick as a dog and was even admitted to the hospital, all because she had a tooth that needed pulling. She had kept putting off getting it done because she had not felt well. After he pulled it she started getting better almost immediately.
Ben - Yes it can. It takes power away from your immune system that would be used elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteYou may have to get the root canal "re-treated". If you dont you can lose the tooth. The infection literally eats bone to survive.
