Building Lean Mass Question? 10 Points ?

396545382 I am an 18 year old guy, 6ft 2 and only 130 pounds. I am not just completely skinny, I have a surprising amount of muscle for my weight, but my bodyfat percentage is below 1%. I am in college and am looking to gain more mass and lean muscle. I cannot use the gym because there are so many people at the college's gym that it takes around 2 hours to do a 30 min workout and I have no money left over, so a gym or equipment is not an option; I only have a pull up bar for my door frame. So my question is, if I do push ups, crunches, pull ups, chin ups, diamond push ups, squats, and lunges can I get a decent workout and build mass as long as I eat healthy and a lot and stick to this? I'm not looking to be huge, but for lean muscle mass. Is this possible? Also I plan on increasing resistance by switching to one armed push ups (which I can do, but only one or two) and by using some 10 pound leg weights I have for my legs and pull ups. Will this work? Thanks!

  1. Timothy - What you are wanting to do is very possible
I am 15, only 5'3 and weigh 105 and my bodyfat % is only 1
I started working out about a year ago and weighed only 87 lbs. I stopped drinking pop and lost 15 lbs in two weeks from the first day of my working out, then I started putting on weight like crazy.

  2. Shiggy - If what Timothy says is true, you could be one of those fortunate few who builds muscle quickly. Most people are hard gainer, while very few are not. Seeing that your body fat is below 1%, I would tell you to keep eating healthy, but eat more. For a male, essential body fat is 2% to 5%. Essential fat is the level below which physical and physiological health would be negatively affected.

You could possibly gain muscle with your workout, but just make sure you are not targeting the same muscle every day. Muscle needs time to rest as well, and if you continuously target the same muscle everyday you could notice strength and muscle mass decreasing. Always consider your form and speed. Just doing as fast as you can without proper form won't work your muscle as much as you think.
