Blood Glucose Testing?

396545384 Blood Glucose testing strips, coated with metal at one end. This metal end is inserted into a testing machine, when blood is being sucked up through capillary action; a reading is reported showing the amount of sugar in the blood sample. I wonder how this metal works. Surely, this involves electricity as the machine needs a battery operate.
I know blood sugar can be tested through ultraviolet light spectroscopy, but this it does not seem to me that this tiny machine emits ultraviolet light!

  1. SethSpeaks - It measures the electric current produced from the reaction of the glucose in the blood and the chemical on the test strip.

  2. Braeley - Ι think it is better seeing a doctor in person to answer this kind of questions.
