I am 18, run almost everyday, would like to know if 56 heart beat per minute is normal? I am ,75 M( 5 ft 9.9) and 68 kg. I've heard that below 60 is not good.
invisible.generation - It depends greatly on how you feel. Lance Armstrong's resting heart rate is between 32-34 bmp. His heart is so strong that it does not need to pump near as many times as an average person's heart does to adequately circulate blood throughout their body. If you feel weak, lethargic or any other negative symptoms, then i recommend visiting your doctor. As I said at the beginning, it depends greatly on how you feel.
Melody - The normal heart rate for an adult is 60-100, but a lot of athletes have heart rates of 50 or lower. It just means you have a strong, healthy heart because you don't sit around on your butt all day.
Nick - That would be deemed within the normal range if you are doing a lot of exercise/running etc. The only thing I would say is, it's your body, if you are worried about it, or don't regard yourself as particularly fit it might be worth a visit to the GP for reassurance.
raymd - Yes, you r perfectly normal. Athletes have heart muscles that are stronger than average people's hearts. It only means your heart can pump in one beat what another person's heart will pump in abt 1.5 beats. Remain fit!
americanidiot0414 - Because you run every day you have made your heart more efficient at pumping so it doesn't require a high heart rate to do things. You are perfectly normal.
Anna - The average is between 60 and 90. 56 isnt that far off. I think that you are fine. You are clearly in amazing shape!
