On 17th November I have an appointment at the orthodontic. I got a referral by my local dentist getting braces. So, I was wondering this is my first appointment at the orthodontics ever and I'm not sure If I will get braces on the exact same day?
Jamie - You won't get them in the same day, on the 17th it will just be the fitting and to make sure that brackets will actually work with you. You will probably get them about 1-2 weeks later :)
Claudia - I just got my braces on this summer. On my first appointment they only just looked at my teeth and discussed what needed to be done. We then scheduled another appointment to get my braces on later. I'm not sure how your orthodontist will do it, but you probably won't get your braces on the first time you go.
Hannah Naylor - No you will not get the brace fitted that day. They will need 2 xray your teeth and take some moulds of your mouth - VILE is the only word to discribe that! Listen to how they tell you to breathe it really does work ( a bit )
Gabba Gabba Hey - A little advice if you're getting fixed braces... When you get them tightened each month it's best to eat something right after because after an hour or so the pain from tightening will set it and you may find eating to be equally as painful. Don't let this scare you, this is just my personal experience with it and I've never been one for mouth pain.
From what I recall the third or fourth appointment was when I got them fitted. Was 10 years ago though so my mind is fuzzy. Certainly wasn't the first appoinment though.
