Labcorp Blood Test Abnormalities? What Do These Things Mean?
I'm a 17 year old african american girl. My LabCorp blood test said my MCV is high (94) when it should be a 80-92. It says my MCHC is low (32.4) when it should be 33.0-36.0. My Vitamin D is very low (11) when it should be 32-100. My ANA is positive abnormal when it should be negative. What does MCHC and MCV mean? and how could it being low or high effect my life? Please help me out here.

josie - MCV suggests b12 or folate (essentially a B viatamin) deficiency. You should make sure your doctor runs a blood test for B12 and also folate level.
ReplyDeleteMCHC can reflect iron defiency, which should probably be rechecked after the B12 and folate tests are completed, and if treatment is necessary.
Most people have a low D outcome because we tend to not take in enough sunlight, in general. Take some vitamin D and also consider a light box for seasonal affective disorder. I thought it was nonsense until I tried it, and it greatly helps mood as well.
I had a positive abnormal ANA as well, and the next time it was negative. You will probably want to repeat the test, but the positive ANA can indicate a potential autoimmune disorder. Definietely talk to your doctor, but also consider finding a good rheumatologist in your area who can help with diagnosis, if necessary.
