Hi, I am 20 years old and I recently had a large polyp found and removed in my colon. My grandmother died of colon cancer my father recently had a benign colon polyp removed. Numerous of my family members including aunts and uncles have had precancerous polyps removed. One uncle even had part of his colon removed. Should I be alarmed or worried about this polyp?
Steph - Well if its just been removed, I wouldn't worry too much about it. However you may want to talk to your doctor about regular colonoscopys, like every 2 years, or however long is necessary. This would find if you have another polyp, and would catch it in time before it'd be a problem. Good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteDenisedds - Yes, 20 years-old is way too young to have polyps.
ReplyDeleteThis is something you GI should have discussed with you.
