  1. Blue Angel - Not necessarily. A brain tumor can be cancerous or non-cancerous (benign). A doctor can surgically remove the tumor and send it to the pathology lab to figure out what type it is.

  2. gangadharan nair - A brain tumor is not necessarily be a brain cancer. Primary brain tumors may be:
    * Not cancerous (benign)
    * Invasive (spread to nearby areas)
    * Located in only a small area
    * Cancerous (malignant)
    A metastatic brain tumor is cancer that started in another part of the body and spread to the brain.

  3. thinkingtime - No, they aren't. The most common tumor inside the skull is a meningioma that is benign, as a rule.

    Tumors inside the brain can be benign or malignant but they can often cause probles due to pressure on the brain.

    People tend to refer to any tumor near the brain as a BT, whereas many are not inside the brain.

  4. april - Yes and no. Benign brain tumors are actually low grade brain cancer and less likely to grow back. When they do grow back, it's often at a higher grade and then is considered cancerous. The only difference in treatment is usually chemo isn't used for low grade tumors.

  5. kelliegirl33 - No. I had a brain tumor and it was benign. Thankfully, it was removed successfully.

  6. Freman - Ι think it is better seeing a doctor in person to answer this kind of questions.
