So today I went to my primary dentist and she told me that my mouth tapers off in the front if ya get what I mean and she said that I have a small mouth. She referred meTo and orthodontist and she said that that will make my smile big! She said I will most likely get a expander... What do you think? What should I expect? Will I get

Day I go in to get it checked out? Do I have to get a retainer wen it's off?? Help!!!
Christina - ok, well i never got an expander yet anyways. when u go in for the first time, they'll take impressions of your mouth. they put this nasty tasting mold on ur teeth (u get to rinse afterwards) so they can see how to treat you. u might not need a retainer unless it has to do w/ braces. (not sure though) and at first ur stuff in ur mouth is gonna hurt. take ibuprophen before u go or take it w/ u. when they work on ur teeth its gonna hurt (im sry). but then u get used to it and the pain (slight pain btw) will go away after a few days. just do what they say and u'll be better off. im sorry, but just think of the end product:)
ReplyDeleteLive.Laugh.Love - Hi, I had this done, an expander was put in at the top of the my mouth cemented to a tooth in the back of my mouth on each side. I have a high pain tolerance so it didn't really hurt although there was a little bit of pain the next day, but hardly noticeable.
ReplyDeleteThe first time you go in they will just take impressions of your teeth so they know how big and what shape to make the expander to fit you properly. Or it could just be a consultation and mostly talking about what you want for your teeth and bla bla bla LOL.
