I'm 19 years old, female, and have never had palpatations or heart issues. last night however I was laying in bed getting ready to sleep when I suddenly felt very hot which is unusual for cause I usually run cold. I moved the blankets but no
help, I broke a sweat and then my heart started racing and then going...reallly slow. it was like dundundundundundun...dun........DUN...............DUN.....dundundun
it felt like it was stopping, my skin all got numb and when I breathed in it felt like I wasn't able to get the air. I was so scared after I almost cried! what was this and what could be the cause, am I dying?
by the way I am 5'11" and 120lbs...I have been on an <650cal a day diet for about two months. throughout the weekend I only had 400ish cal a day and my body feels awful. ugh
Blayze :D - That happens to me when I forget to eat for a few days, but I'm smaller than you (5'2) so I need less fuel to keep going. You're not going to die. You just need to eat a bit more.
ReplyDeleteCristen - I have heart problems also. I have a wandering pacemaker. I am 19 also and I'm 5"4 and 125 lbs. Very unlikely- but the breaKing into sweats can be a sign of a heart attack. I would defiantly go to a cardiologist to make sure that something really isn't wrong with you. Depending on your insurance, it can be an expensive appointment but what is more important then your heart. They will give you a stress test( which is when they put a heart monitor on you while you run on a treadmill and they're probably give you a EKG or an ECG. I'm not one hundred percent sure the details of what they do but check out this website- it will give you more information to help you.http://www.cardiosmart.org/HeartDisease/CTT.aspx?id=890
ReplyDeleteI hope this helps you out ;) goodluck
Charles Dechu - Oh yeah, thats the panic. Its hellish isnt it? But no worries. ive been doing that like every day for the past year and my heart has never stopped and ive never passed out.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people have a misconception about what is or is not irregular. Your heart isnt a metronome, simply put. I actually found a great thing on wikipedia about this the other day. Its a short video, of a healthy heart in real time from an MRI. I'll put the link in the sources. When you watch, keep note of the rate. You'll quickly see, that it changes very frequently. This is a non-icky image by the way, just an MRI, nothing graphic. and its in real time.
Also you should eat healthier. But im suer you know that so i wont bother saying more. Just know that you'll be fine.
