How Can U Tell If U Have Lice Or Dandruff?

396545389 I was around my little cousin who had it. My hair was dirty but had powder on it. How can I know which is which?

  1. PinkGem - The easy way you can tell the difference is have someone look at your hair. Find the lice egg or dandruff (they should both be white) and gently try and pull it off the hair. If it comes off easily its dandruff, if you have to sort of strip it off the hair its lice. That's the way my mom could always tell.

  2. Trish - you most often won't see any bugs. the eggs are layed on a single strand of hair about a half an inch to an inch from the scalp but could be lower. the eggs you have to scrap from the strand using a nail or a very good pinch. they won't flake away with a little brush off. you have to pull them off. when you get one it should be hard and if you can see well enough they have a dark center. If you do have them make sure treat your hair and then pick out every last egg or there is a good chance they won't go away.

  3. Heike - Dandruff isn't usually itchy. If you're scratching your head a lot, especially around the back of your ears, then it could be lice. They're easy enough to get rid of nowadays, go to the chemist and ask for the appropriate stuff. If you've got dandruff then there's a cure for that as well. Use head & shoulders to keep it away.
