  3. emaemaee - That really depends how long he's been out, which has probably been a while since 75% of his brain isn't receiving oxygen, and where the damage is. You should probably ask his healthcare provider, they'll give you more information that we can.

  4. RN851 - Hello Justin - if 3/4 of his brain is not getting sufficient oxygen then it is not likely this person will recover. If they do reawaken it is doubtful that they will be able to function normally. Sorry.

  5. Daria - Honestly, I have been where you are. My stepdaughter, then 9, was in a 4 wheeling accident when the driver of it swerved to miss a tree and sent my stepdaughter head first into the tree without a helmet. She was in a coma and none of the specialists gave her a good chance to even survive. She was on life support. Her brain activity looked dim. They had to remove part of her skull to relieve the swelling and pressure. She did eventually come out of it and had to have rehab to learn how to function again. That was a little over 2 years ago. My husband and I give all the credit to her. To go through that kind of trauma and pull out of it. The human body is remarkable. But...I have another experience that didn't turn out that way. My best friend's brother was in the back of a pick-up that took a turn too fast. He flew out and landed head first into the ground. He was also comatose, on life support, and wasn't given a good chance for survival. He also had part of his skull removed to relieve the pressure. The family decided to take him off the support and he passed away shortly after. The brain is a huge mystery. Don't throw in the towel. You never know what can happen.
