James - It doesn't hurt that bad. They can use really tiny needles if you ask them too and you may not feel a thing. I have one, either hypo or hyper--can't remember which is which--it's the one where your thyroid doesn't work. Until they got my medicine to the right level, I had severe depression and was extremely cold sensitive. Good thing is, once they get it right, it's just one little pill a day (for the rest of your life) and your good to go. Another good thing is that it is really cheap, even without insurance. There are tons of support groups on the web. Do a search and read up. YOu'll be glad you did.
Dylan Pointon - Do u mean hypo/hyperthyroidism. A blood sample to test your thyroids can be taken from your arm like most blood tests, they are taken from your arm
