The remedy is to take a medication such as Levothyroxine (generic, cheaper for you) at a dosage recommended by your PCP. Periodically your doctor may request lab. tests, in order to determine when and if to increase the dosage. In some cases, the Thyroid gland is entirely removed, without major problems, requiring the medication to be taken for life, with the patient feeling O.K.
