  1. Toby - You are skinnier than most. Body fat % isn't a good baseline of health.
For example, I have about 4% body fat. You might see that and say I am freakishly malnourished. But, if you see me in real life you would see that I am actually just very healthy and in great shape.
So, I wouldn't worry much about your BF%

  2. DistantTraces - A healthy body fat percentage for females is between 21-33%.
    For men, it's between 8-19%.

As you get older, the body fat percentage that is considered healthy usually increases, so by the time someone is over 60, a woman can still have up to 36% wheras a man can have up to 25% and still be considered healthy.

Usually, children and adolescents have lower body fat percentages as they have not been through or completed puberty.

It's hard to accurate exact body fat percentage, the only real way to do it is to get it tested. However, the estimations can give us a good idea of whether we're within the healthy range or not. As you have 17% and are still growing, you should be fine. ^_^

  3. D - The healthy body fat range for non athletic females is approx 20-30% body fat. At 17% (IF the number is accurate) would indicate you are highly athletic. Hope this helps.
