Back to the spots....they don't look like "sores", in that they are not open and oozing anything. They are not raised, but rather flat spots on his leg and foot. He puts hydrocortisone cream on them. (???)
Are these spots in fact what diabetics get on their legs?
CS...his condition is NOT under control. While you see a doctor for your diabetes, he does not. He gets no treatment whatsoever. Hence the term, "uncontrolled diabetes". When I said he uses it as an "issue of control", I meant that when I ask/tell him to go to the doctor, he does not.
always b natural - Diabetics have two problems that affect the legs/feet.
ReplyDeleteProblems with circulation - so that blood is collecting
in spots. This is probably what he has going on.
Peripheral Neuropathy - which is loss of nerve sensation
in the extremities, in particular. What happens is that
a diabetic will injure their foot, and because their nerves
can't feel, and the circulation is damaged, the injury
doesn't heal. These two problems together will lead
to amputation - a condition that has a 80% mortality
in 5 yrs.
C S - Settle down, dear. Who are you to say he isn't under control? I have several spots all over my body, especially my legs. They are called SKs, the result of sun as a child and sure maybe my years doing drugs, INSULIN, LIGHTEN UP, INSULIN, LOL. I am fair in complexion and see a dermatologist, PER MY DIABETES SPECIALIST. Ask your husband to please take good care of his condition so you do not have to visit him in a hospital. Period!
ReplyDeleteIf he's playing power trips, WHY Jump in For the Ride?
His condition IS HIS CONTROL!!
buffalo - He will also be in control when you are pushing him around in a wheel chair from Amputations. Also when driving him to dialysis, or being his seeing eye wife. You don't know what control is until this happens. An intervention may work. Who knows ?
ReplyDeleteLove means that you try to stay healthy, not just for yourself but also for your partner. I don't know how you put up with this. It is so frustrating.
If I was in this situation I would just up and leave. That's My opinion.
Think about it.

Sam - Why don't you use images and statistics available online to make him understand that he needs to take care of you so that he can live longer and a happier life. Don't let him go out of control. You are his wife. get his diet under control. Go for those morning walks/ gym with him to motivate him. Don't let him consume sugar. Give him a natural sweetener like Natvia http://natvia.com/ instead. He will never know. Let him know that you care.
