  1. kerry - dont worry about how its done as that will make it alot worse than it needs to be. The injection is better if your more relaxed and so is the extraction. All you should feel is pressure and pushing and you will hear some cracking noises as it comes out.

  3. NICKIE - The best is to go to an oral surgeon although now general dentist are equipped and definitely able to handle extractions of wisdom teeth. The gas is mostly for your nerves not for the discomfort as far as the injection goes they place topical in that are to numb the surface so you do not feel the stick the worst part is the injection after that you should not feel a thing you will although feel pressure not pain. don't be afraid Dentistry has came a long way with technology and all it is nothing to it calm down and take a deep breath you are worrying for nothing.

  5. arnie g - Just a heads up,you may not want them to give you a drug called Versed

In fact, many people who use Versed for "conscious sedation" during a procedure are awake for the entire procedure but remember nothing, often believing they were "out" the whole time.

Versed (Midazolam) is an amnestic. It is commonly administered in combination with anesthesia before and during surgery. It is also commonly used for minor procedures like colonoscopies dental procedures like extractions, conscience sedation so that patients won't remember pain and discomfort. However, that does not mean that those sensations will not be experienced.

. There is a blog that has some more info that would be interesting

  6. Burbur Hiffely - get the gas for sure. it makes you very relaxed. and also they will probably give you injections to numb your mouth. these hurt like a pinch, and the ones on your mouth hurt the most but its not excruciating. You wont feel the teeth being pulled out. The actual procedure is pretty easy. However, after the procedure is more annoying. Your mouth will be numb and you will have to have gauze in for about an hour...the dentist will tell you how long usually. also dont brush your teeth on the first night or second morning after you get them pulled. swirl with salt water a lot to prevent infection. Obviously, eat soft foods like soup or noodles. If you are prone to headaches or pain, take a pain pill right after the procedure. it may be hard to swallow because your mouth will be numb but you can do it. good luck!
