Why Are There Puss Pockets In My Throat?

396545383 Ok, so lately I have had puss pocket in my tonsils about everyday that I have to get out with a Q tip by pressing next to it. (I have always gotten them often but not like every day). And also they smell really bad. Could it be tonsillitis? Should I get my tonsils removed? They don't really affect my day to day life besides getting an ear ache or a sore throat from time to time. And what could be causing the puss pockets?

  1. Heather - You are getting the pus off with a Q tip successfully? If this is true you are probably doing more harm than good. Foreign objects don't belong on your tonsils, high infection risk. That being said pus is an indicator for infection. Do you have a fever, swollen or tender neck, or sore throat? This would also be an indicator for infection. See your doctor about an antibiotic, you can mention tonsillectomy but depending on your age many doctors don't even consider it unless you've had repetitive issues needing medical attention.
