Severe Itch On Hands When Touch Something Cold?

396545383 My mom's hands, just recently, have been extremely itchy when they come in contact with something cold. The itchiness eases for a little while and then comes back. They get very red but aren't very swollen. Again, this has never happened to her before. What could it be? (She doesnt think it's hives or poison ivy)

  1. Shergill - HI Hailey,

This is highly unusual. When we touch something our nerve endings conduct impulses more slowly and our blood vessels become vaso-constricted. As a result of these two process we may feel a tingling sensation or feel hot when circulation returns to normal.
Hives and poison ivy produce itchy feeling and hot/burning sensation respectively.
Conclusions: 1. Is there an error in reporting? 2. Could the cause be something else? Sorry, I am not helpful. However, I hope you can find the real cause and deal with it appropriately.
