Can A Doctor Turn Someone Down From A Heart Transplant List If The Doctor Thinks They Dont Have Money?

ReplyDeleteAmaretta - Each state sets its own standards for determining who is eligible for a heart transplant. For instance, if your friend is obese, she may not be eligible in her state because her physical health is already compromised by her obesity. Heart transplants are very expensive and require a long-term drug regimen for the rest of the patient's life to prevent rejection of the new heart. If the patient is already neglecting their health by being obese, they may not be considered a good risk for taking care of their health afterwards.
