Is My Sugar Intake A Problem?

396545384 I have been working out and eating healthy for snacks I love fruits like grapes,bannans,oranges, and I also eat about one protein bar a day I have been losing weight but when I add my sugar intake for the day my calories are about 1700 but my sugar is usually pretty high not outrageous but sometimes 5-25g higher than recommend is this gonna cause any issues

  1. Anne H - Make sure you are getting all the nutrients your body needs, including calories. Fueling on nutrients vs. sugar is always better. Any thing other that optimum causes the body to work harder to process. I'd try to wean myself off any sort of sugar and then eat just pure sugar when needed. It is hidden everywhere.

    If you skip a day of any sugar and crave it I think you need to examine your sugar intake. Also watch out for high glycemic items and not having enough water. Water levels can trick the brain and the glycemic issues manipulate your sugar levels. I'd also look for an alternative to the commercial protein bar. You not only want to think of your weight but also your long term health. Veg sources of protein such as TVP or soy have the good stuff but not the bad stuff.

  2. Tabea - Excessive sugar consumption does not cause diabetes. The main risk factors are genes and age.
