I Am On Dialysis.haemoglobin Level Dropped From 9.6 Gm/dl To 6.9 In First 4 Days.why?

  1. Gary B - You need dialysis because you have kidney failure.

    Attached to the kidneys are the Adrenal Glands. These glands control how much Red Blood your body makes. of course, the number of red blood cells in your body determines you hemoglobin reading.

    Therefore, it is VERY common for patients with kidney failure to ALSO have anemia. Unless/Until you get a kidney transplant, the anemia will stay.

    There are several drugs than can help with anemia. On, Epoetin, is extremely effect but VERY expensive -- LIke US$1500 per injection! There is a possibility that taking iron vitamin supplement might help.
