Not so much about the procedure itself, but the aftermath is what has me most upset.
I don't know what to expect, some people say its fine after a few days, others say it takes MONTHS to be normal again. I don't want to be asleep for more than the first day, because I get anxietated if I'm not awake.
Most importantly, I don't want it to cut into my Skyrim playing time!
Usually, i tolerate pain fairly well, but I've never gone through something traumatic such as this.
Also, because I can't eat or drink anything the morning of, I will get a headache from lack of coffee.
How long after the procedure will it be ok for me to drink some cold/warm coffee? how about yogurt?
Oh, I am 18 years olde if that helps, so my wisdom teeth arn't actually in yet.
imogen stone - 2 weeks for full recovery. yogurt, soup etc,,, is great
ReplyDeletes z - im really sorry that i dont know the answer to your question, but how old are you when your first wisdom tooth started growing? how old were you when the last one started? the avg age is about early 20s, but mine are already growing and im 13. im just wondering how it was for you..
ReplyDeleteBecky - I got my four wisdom teeth out on the fourth of this month. Right now, I can eat anything and everything as long as I keep away from small nuts and rice as they can get stuck easily. It took about four days for my mouth to fuction properly again, but couldn't eat cruncy foods for about a week.
ReplyDeleteAs for cutting into your Skyrim time, don't worry about that, you'll probably get more time if you're having some days off! I played videogames two hours after I got home from surgery. You just gotta go replace your gauze pads every so offten until the bleeding stops, and ice during any moment you're watching a small vid of the game or whatever.
As for pain, I tolerate pain well too. Mix that with taking pain killers before the pain can start, you get no pain at all. I have a bit of pain now because I decided to stop taking my pain medication all together, and it's still a bit sore, but nothing big for me.
And yes, the not eatting or drinking for eight hours prior is annoying.
Afterwards you won't want to eat or drink anything until the numbing leaves [I couldn't even tell where my lips were when I was numb, and it was hard to swollow my pain medication]
As soon as the numbing leaves you can have mildly warm anything, or cold stuff. They suggest not having anything hot until the second day, but as soon as you think you'll be able to swallow again you can have your coffee and yogurt.
Other great foods to have are blended smooth soups, mashed potatoes, and hummus.
Sometimes your mouth doesn't open properly, mine couldn't fit a normal sized spoon in it, I had to eat from a baby spoon for a few days after.
