shoney - some people are more genetically predisposed to becoming fat. If they eat poorly, it shows more on them than it does on other people. However, this doesn't mean genetics are to blame. Genetics don't cause people to be fat, bad diets and lack of exercise do.
Sandrabug - Lucky you! :D You must have a fast metabolism (the rate at which your body burns calories)! I have a very VERY slow metabolism, so I got fat by eating badly and eating too much. Some people can eat junk food for hours and not gain a pound, while people like me will gain like 2,000,000! LoL. So yeah, a slow metabolism will make you gain weight. You are very lucky to have a fast one!
fuzzyslippers - it could be what they eat or the speed of their metabolisms. It also could be genetics. Some people are just naturally heavier and even if they eat the exact same or healthier than a skinny person and exercise they still may be on the heavier side. Remember you need to put yourself in their shoes and just because you look skinny doesn't mean your insides aren't all fat
