Does Anyone Have Answer To Super Low Blood Pressure Causes?

396545385 For about 9-10 days now I have had low blood pressure ("BP"). Got a BP machine after going to the ER, where they ran all sorts o tests, and only found a urinary infection//they wanted to admit me, but I convinced them since I only live 3 blocks away that i would come back. but I haven't. Now My BP machine will not even take my BP....feel so faint many times when I get up. Is it possible that my BP is too low for my machine to take??? B4, I could take it, and it averages in the 70's/over 50's. Anyone got any ideas??? H E L P !! Also have 20 year marriage with husband who is sick of me feeling bad, and not sympathetic anymore...making me feel really lousy over something I have NO control over.....appreciate any HELP PLEASE HELP!! 1. Veritas - Some causes are
    Blood volume
    Hormonal changes
    Widening of the blood vessels
    Medicines
    Heart and endocrine problems
    pregnancy
    Stress
    depression

  2. Daniel - There are many conditions -- as the last person posted.

When you are dehydrated (not enough fluid intake), your blood pressure can drop.

It is important to drink plenty of fluids and eat balanced meals to keep your blood volume and blood pressure up.

  3. formerly_bob - There's not much point in searching the web for answers for BP that is low enough to cause the symptoms you are having. None of the things that cause effects this severe are things you can fix yourself, and there is no way to diagnose the problem without tests. At a minimum you need to have a blood test panel and and EKG. These two things will pinpoint the exact problem. Make an appointment with your doc. Do not go to the ER. The ER does not diagnose and treat long-term problems - they only stabilize so you can be released from the hospital.

  4. J B - Those blood pressure machines are not programmed to monitor low blood pressures. You can fix this by dramatically increasing the amount of water/fluids that you drink each day. The more you drink, the better your blood pressure will be. Also, being ill can lower your blood pressure which is why increased fluid intake is so important for your recovery and helping your body heal itself with the assistance of the antibiotics. In addition, you need to be eating a protein at every meal and possibly snacks in order to feed the cells in your body which is using extra energy while it tries to heal itself. Without energy (protein) for the cells to operate properly, healing is delayed, you feel terrible and your blood pressure remains low. You can fix a lot of this yourself. And, as instructed by the ER, if you continue to get worse and worse despite doing what I have recommended, you need to go back for admission to the hospital.

  5. AJ Mclean - first of all using a digital bp machine is not as simple as it seems , plz read instructions carefully. though i hope you hv already done that.
now low bp in ur case seems to be constitutional and not due to any diseases . take plenty of fluids for some days and then check, if still it is VERY low, only then u may require a proper clinic consultation ( and not just ER visit.
if its around 100 (systolic - higher one) then no need to worry.

  6. licole29 - Not sure why your pressure is low but from my past experience when my pressure was low it was due to me having blood clots and I was later diagnosed with a condition called (PE) PULMONARY EMBOLISM so that's something you might wanna look into just to be safe.
